Racing Butterflies
In Bob's perfect words, Day 3 was all about Racing Butterflies ... as they rode up and up and up, from 2200 feet to 8000 feet, the butterfiles would linger and then gently race ahead. Here's Bob waving hi ...
They all did an amazing job getting to Kit Carson Lodge yesterday (Day 3). We were in a dead zone all day ... no cell phones and no stores or towns to speak of, so there was much driving back and forth to ensure water and food were plentiful. Susan, SAG Queen, saw nothing but smiling faces at each and every stop. It could have been grimaces, but everyone seemed genuinely pleased to be on their bikes in the HOT middle of nowhere. Joy!
Here is a picture from today (Day 4) between Genoa and Carson City
The tree and lake photo is the view from our cabins at Kit Carson. Breathtaking!
Today (Day 4) was all about Nevada. Some climbing in the beginning which resulted in an amazing downhill ride (which you'll see from Steve as soon as we get a You Tube account to post the 15 minute video - it's a must see). We lunched in Woodford at a roadside deli, visited by a yellow striped garter snake and a beautiful yellow butterfly ... Bob swears it was one that he was chasing from yesterday!
Another break in Genoa, Nevada (the town that established the State) for ice cream bars and a discussion about the rest of the day.
Other random photos from the day today:
And last but not least, since we have Steven's bycep, here is Doug's calf ...
Peace, Butterflies, Sunshine and Nevada!
Susan
